With the days getting longer (and hotter!), we love to get in the saddle as much as possible. However, Arizona tests the limits for some of the hottest temperatures during the summer. Most of the summer, we opt to ride very late in the evening or just spend time with our girls giving baths and grooming. There are some days when it is too hot to ride, but when it is cool enough we take full advantage. One of the keys to summer riding is having the right equipment and attire.

Kerrits IceFil® Tights

 

I LOVE every Kerrits item I have. The Kerrits IceFil tights are no exception! They come in both womens and childrens sizes and in tons of fun colors. The eggplant purple color is awesome.

These are my top pick for any summer riding. The full-seat is made from a flexible anti-slip silicone pattern and is flexible and breathable, especially compared to a traditional full-seat. Bonus – they have UPF 50+ sun protection!

Irideon Issential Low Rise Tights

Another one of my favorite brands – Irideon makes comfortable, affordable, and well-made riding clothes! These tights are comfortable, have the right waist height and come in great colors. If you haven’t discovered it yet, I love fun colors for my riding clothes! The one negative I have with these is they are not full-seat. While I don’t always ride in full-seats, they are nice to have on that first trail ride of the year or when working on my sitting trot!

Horze Leah UV Pro Riding Tights

If you are looking for even more cooling features, you should check out the Horze Leah UV Pro Riding tights. These breeches feature the same silicone style full-seat seen in the Kerrits tights. They also have mesh panels! While the mesh panels are great for airflow, they don’t hold up to snagging on tack very well. Take care near sharp corners!

Shires Ladies’ Aubrion Morden Summer Riding Tight

These lightweight, flexible tights are comfortable and quick-drying. They are a bit cheaper than some of the other summer tight brands, but still have the silicone full-seat and moisture-wicking to keep you cool.

Why I Love Them:

• Silicone full-seat
• Belt loops if you like to wear a belt 
• They wash well and seem to hold up

Pikeur Gia Grip Athleisure Tights

If you are looking for some high-end summer horseback riding tights, you can’t go wrong with Pikeur. These have a great ventilated full-seat and will last for a long time. While these are an initial investment, you won’t be disappointed.
